SWRE Appoints Jeff Simpson CEO
The board of directors of Southwest Rural Electric Association (SWRE) is pleased to announce the appointment of Jeff Simpson as chief executive officer effective July 27, 2020. The announcement comes after an extensive nationwide search with delays related to the coronavirus pandemic.
“I’m looking forward to meeting all the SWRE employees at the end of this month. I’ve heard a lot of really great things about our team and the members we serve,” Simpson said.
Simpson has a background with electric cooperatives that includes over 40 years of service to Cotton Electric Cooperative out of Walters, Okla. He has experience in nearly every co-op department from line crews to dispatch to his most recent role as vice president of accounting and administration. Simpson holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from Cameron University. He and his wife, Sandy, have been married over 40 years and have two sons and four grandchildren.
“The board is very confident in Jeff’s ability to lead the team and co-op into the future. He’s going to be a great asset to SWRE,” said President Don Ellis. “We are also thankful for Keith Bonham, a longtime SWRE employee, who stepped up to lead the team as interim CEO during the transition. His commitment to SWRE has gone above and beyond the call.”
